I'm not suprised that Clintwood isn't ranked. We kind of were the ugly step child if you got to see much of the press last year, even when we were in the finals. I hope the team uses it as a motivational tool but they have to avoid the slow starts that seem to plague them.

Pretty weak field in C and D will help them get to the state title game. IMO they match up much better with Buffalo Gap than they would with William Campbell. I would be totally shocked if BG or WC didn't represent Region B in Salem come December.

All this is is a popularity contest which will mean absolutely nothing come December.

For all I know (but very highly doubt) Powell Valley could whomp everyone. Hell, even Pound, which is still very doubtful. No one with their mind on earth would have dreamed that JJK would beat PV in 1999 but they did.

I say PV will make it to second round of playoffs and then get beat out by Gate City or maybe even a vastly improving Lee High team.

In D1 based on what I gather, Clintwood has to be the favorite to come out of Region D and make it to Salem.

Point blank, football in Southwest Virginia isn't what it used to be. Not a knock on the kids here but it is true. As long as we don't get out and work there will not be another Thomas Jones or Julius Jones nor will there be another Jake Houseright or the three Travis' from the Appalachia team in the mid 90s. There will never be another band in the world equal to Nightwish if we don't work for it.

I must be going brain dead, but who is the third Travis. I know of Clark and Turner but who is the other.......... You might be thinking of Jamie Jessee, but I could be wrong.

He graduated with Turner, Jessee, Clark and Sturgill. Was #7 I believe. The main source of the video Julius and company got in trouble for as well if I am not mistaken.

Wow, that brings back some memories.

Travis Wells was pretty underrated actually. Very good all around player his senior year. Though I still believe that actually playing with these guys that Jamie Jessee has got to be one of the most talented people I have EVER seen play the game in person. While Clark and Turner grabbed most of the headlines(and rightfully so) Jamie was putting together a amazing run and was absolutely as talented as both. He seriously could have been another Jason Witten or Heath Miller IMO.

I will never forget the one handed catch he made over our safety in the regional finals. Turner got flushed and threw it probably 40 yards downfield and Jessee made a great leaping catch. It seemed as you all were perfect that day.
